Totino’s Pizza Rolls are popular frozen snacks in the US because they are small, tasty, and easy to eat. They come in many flavors, so people often wonder which one is the tastiest
To figure out the best one, I tried six different flavors of pizza rolls. I looked at how they tasted, how they felt, and what ingredients they had. I put them in order from the one I liked the least to the one I liked the most.
A Brief History of Totino’s Pizza Rolls
Before we start tasting, let’s quickly remember the past. Totino’s Pizza Rolls weren’t always their most popular product. Originally, Totino’s was a small pizza place in Minnesota in 1951, started by Rose and Jim Totino. By the 1970s, Totino’s was the best-selling frozen pizza company in the US.
It is surprising that the Totino’s Pizza Rolls were not created by the Totino family. Jeno Palucci, who founded Jeno’s Pizza Rolls, thought of the idea for these delicious pizza pockets. Pillsbury renamed them Totino’s in 1993, and they became very popular as a snack.
Now, let’s get to the tasting!
The Methodology: How I Cooked the Pizza Rolls
I wanted to try every flavor fairly, so I followed the directions on the package. I cooked the pizza rolls in the oven at 425 degrees for 10 minutes to make them crispy. After they were ready, I let them cool and had my roommate try them as well.
Each flavor was judged on its appearance, taste, texture, and overall pizza essence. Here’s how they ranked, starting with the least favorite.
Ranking the Pizza Rolls
6. FaZe Clan Buffalo Style Chicken
Nutrition (Per 6 Rolls):

Totino’s teamed up with FaZe Clan to release this Buffalo Chicken flavor, featuring white meat chicken and cayenne hot sauce. Despite the exciting partnership, this flavor didn’t quite hit the mark for me.
As someone who doesn’t particularly enjoy Buffalo sauce, the rolls lacked the “pizza essence” I was looking for. Instead of tasting like pizza, they were essentially spicy Buffalo sauce pockets, with very little chicken presence.
If you like Buffalo sauce, you might like this flavor more than me. But I found them disappointing and not as cheesy as I expected from a pizza roll.
5. Combination
Nutrition (Per 6 Rolls):
- Calories: 200
- Fat: 7 g (Saturated Fat: 2.5 g)
- Sodium: 360 mg
- Carbs: 29 g (Fiber: 1 g, Sugar: 2 g)
- Protein: 6 g
The Combination pizza has sauce, cheese, sausage, and pepperoni all mixed together. I was excited to try it but was disappointed because there wasn’t a lot of meat in it. It was supposed to have a variety of meats but I only found a few small pieces of sausage & no pepperoni.
The sweet tomato sauce and cheese dominated the flavor, but it lacked the depth I expected from a combination pizza. If you’re craving a meat-packed pizza roll, this might not be the best choice.
4. Triple Pepperoni
Nutrition (Per 6 Rolls):
- Calories: 210
- Fat: 8 g (Saturated Fat: 3 g)
- Sodium: 360 mg
- Carbs: 30 g (Fiber: 2 g, Sugar: 2 g)
- Protein: 6 g
I was really excited to try the Triple Pepperoni pizza because I love pepperoni. But I was disappointed because it tasted too smoky. The hickory smoke flavor in the ingredients made the pepperoni taste fake and took away from the overall taste.
While the rolls did have a noticeable pepperoni flavor, it wasn’t as balanced as I hoped, and the smokiness overpowered the rest of the ingredients.
3. Cheese
Nutrition (Per 6 Rolls):
- Calories: 200
- Fat: 7 g (Saturated Fat: 3 g)
- Sodium: 370 mg
- Carbs: 31 g (Fiber: 1 g, Sugar: 3 g)
- Protein: 5 g
The Cheese variety is very simple—it’s just sauce and cheese inside a crispy roll. I didn’t love the taste, but I liked how simple it was. It didn’t have any strong flavors and tasted like a regular cheese pizza.
But the tomato sauce was a bit thick, not as good as the other flavors. Still, my roommate liked it because it reminded them of the pizza they had at birthday parties as a kid.
2. Triple Cheese
Nutrition (Per 6 Rolls):
- Calories: 200
- Fat: 7 g (Saturated Fat: 3 g)
- Sodium: 350 mg
- Carbs: 31 g (Fiber: 2 g, Sugar: 2 g)
- Protein: 5 g
The Triple Cheese flavor offered an upgrade from the regular Cheese variety, thanks to the inclusion of mozzarella, Monterey Jack & cheddar. While I couldn’t distinctly taste each cheese, the filling was creamier and cheesier than the standard cheese option.
Overall, the Triple Cheese pizza rolls had a better balance of sauce and cheese, with no pasty texture in the tomato sauce. If you’re a cheese lover, this flavor is a solid choice.
1. Pepperoni – The Clear Winner
Nutrition (Per 6 Rolls):
- Calories: 200
- Fat: 8 grams of total fat, with 3 grams of saturated fat
- Sodium: 370 mg
- Carbs: 30 grams with 1 gram of fiber and 2 grams of sugar
- Protein: 5 g
The best Totino’s Pizza Roll flavor is Pepperoni. I was worried about trying the smoky Triple Pepperoni, but the regular Pepperoni was better than I expected. It had a good mix of pepperoni, tomato sauce, and cheese.
The pepperoni taste wasn’t too strong, but it added a little kick that went well with the other ingredients. The filling was nice and held together well. It reminded me of the pizza parties I had as a kid. My roommate also liked it, saying it was the best flavor out of all of them.
Final Thoughts:
After taste-testing six different Totino’s Pizza Roll flavors, it’s clear that not all varieties are created equal. While the FaZe Clan Buffalo Style Chicken might appeal to spice lovers, and the Combination flavor could satisfy those looking for a blend of ingredients, nothing beats the classic Pepperoni.
Here’s how the six flavors ranked, from least to best:
- Pepperoni
- Triple Cheese
- Cheese
- Triple Pepperoni
- Combination
- FaZe Clan Buffalo Style Chicken
